This book, first published in 1978, details Father Rufino’s story of conducting ‘Christian pilgrims’ from Assisi to the port of Genoa, and helping them find documentation and accommodation in the city under the noses of the Germans. These people were, of course, Jewish refugees from Nazi persecution.
